I had been to Elevation before, so I knew exactly what waited for me on the other side of that staircase.
I also knew I needed it.
Hi, I’m Danica — stay-at-home mom, homeschooling mom of five, wife, daughter, caretaker, college student, chef, nurse, and whatever else life needs from me on any given day. And today, I want to share what this experience actually is… because it’s so much more than “spicy pictures.”
It’s a reset.
It’s a breath.
It’s the first time in a long time you stop being everything for everyone else — and just get to be you.
And yes, you’ll understand a whole new kind of freedom the first time they tell you to pop out a boob.

A couple years back, I had just lost 95 pounds.
I was the healthiest I’d ever been.
No more diabetes medication.
No more depression medication.
A new lease on life.
Everyone around me saw the shift — especially my husband. I felt alive. I felt present. I felt like someone who existed outside of diapers, dishes, lessons, and laundry.
That session helped me see myself clearly — maybe for the first time.

Last year, everything changed.
I slipped into one of the hardest seasons of my life.
My mental health spiraled.
Anxiety took over.
I barely left the house. If I did, it was to sit alone in a parking lot while my husband ran inside.
I gained 35 pounds.
Lost my sex drive.
Lost interest in my own life.
And I felt like a terrible wife and mother.
The world saw nothing wrong.
But I felt like I was drowning in my own thoughts, stuck beneath the weight of things I couldn’t name.
Then one day, a thought crossed my mind that terrified me — and that was enough to tell my doctor the truth. Slowly, we found something that worked.
Slowly, I started liking myself again.
And that’s when I booked another session.
I booked six months ahead thinking I’d lose the extra weight.
Spoiler: I didn’t.
But this time?
I walked in with more confidence than I ever had before.
I stretched.
I shaved.
I moisturized.
I did my nails.
I practiced my “sultry face” (still working on it).
I even worked out a little leading up to it.
But nerves?
None.
I ran up those stairs yelling my hellos, ready for whatever magic I knew was coming.

Hair and makeup? Fantabulous — as always.
I let Rachel do Rachel, and she nailed it.
While she worked, we caught up on life. Justin walked around the studio planning angles and sets like he was mapping out a movie.
Rachel helped me pick outfits. She hyped me up nonstop. One of my favorite photos from the entire day? Rachel in the frame fixing my bottoms so Justin could get the perfect booty shot.
She fluffed, pinned, dabbed sweat, fixed broken body jewelry, adjusted straps, and basically became my on-set best friend. There is no hype like Rachel hype.
By the end, I had done:
And every single part felt like stepping into a different version of myself.
Since that day, I’ve opened my mobile app more times than I can count.
Every time I scroll through, the same thought hits:
“Damn girl, you’re fine.”
And it’s not just the pictures.
It’s the shift that carried into my life.
I kept the stretches.
I kept the extra self-care.
I kept showing up for me.
I saw a difference in the mirror.
I saw the scale move again.
I felt… lighter.
Not just physically.
Emotionally.
The atmosphere in my home changed, too.
I wasn’t wound so tight.
Little things didn’t set me off.
Life felt easier — for everyone.
I did this session for myself.
But it ended up touching everything around me.

I’ve followed boudoir photography since 2009. I’ve watched other photographers.
Admired other studios.
Almost booked.
Never did.
Then I found Elevation.
And after this?
There will never be anyone else for me.
Because this isn’t just photography.
It’s an experience that rewires something inside you.
If you know, you know.
This session changed the way I move through my own life.
It gave me back the parts I thought I’d lost for good.
And if you’re reading this?
