Falling in Love with Myself Again: A Healing Journey through Photography

This is me!

Never in a million years would I have thought that I could do something like this. I filled out the giveaway thinking I would never win and then Rachel Ellison said my name on the Facebook live. My jaw dropped!!! I was so excited but also scared to death!

I thought of every scenario that could go wrong leading up to the moment I walked in the door! My guard was up until we really started talking. Rachel is a magician with hair/makeup and during that, I was really able to hear Justin’s story and tell them mine.

They walked me through everything that was going to happen, they knew how to communicate well, give examples, advice, recommendations, etc. They made sure I was comfortable, they listened to me, and they literally made magic. I could not have asked for a better experience.

I thought my body is not “acceptable” in front of the camera. This body has went through 2 babies, 5 years of breastfeeding, 10+ surgeries, 10+ procedures, chemotherapy, continued treatments and two major neurological diseases and has failed me to many times to count.

BUT today it didn’t.

Today through a camera lens (and 2 phenomenal human beings- Rachel and Justin) I saw the body that hasn’t failed me. I saw the body that gave me two beautiful little girls, that fed them and that has made it out of hell and beat all the odds. The body that i was given with and I truly fell inlove with myself today as I sat on the couch and saw the pictures for the first time.
